A quick trip to the wild,
to the County
spending a few days with Alida
in her shack
Did not go there last year.
No phones
No water
No electricity
I forgot my glasses to read
Beach is a walk away
Conditions are just right for fire flies,
birds chirping all day long
At night
we are unraveling.
I hear her loud snore.
I blow out the candles
and fall asleep remembering
at the camp ground getting water,
a couple in netted tent with
flashlights on head
reading ever so seriously.
All I care about is being away from
the muggy Toronto heat and to awaken to
her espresso coffee served in bed.
Ahhh to retreat.
